Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Per Diem Surgery Scheduler to support our ambulatory surgery center. The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating surgical procedures, ensuring accurate scheduling, obtaining required documentation, communicating with physicians' offices, and providing excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Insurance authorizations.
- Preoperative clearance and testing results.
- Communicate preoperative instructions to patients as directed.
- Maintain accurate scheduling records in the electronic health record and/or scheduling system.
- Confirm procedure details, implant requests, and special equipment needs.
- Coordinate schedule changes, cancellations, and additions as needed.
- Work closely with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow and operating room utilization.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with front office and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one year of surgery scheduling experience preferred, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center, hospital, or physician practice.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and insurance authorization processes.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical record systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience scheduling plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, or other specialty procedures.
- Knowledge of AAAHC accreditation standards and ASC operations.
- Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate effectively by phone and in person.
- Ability to perform administrative duties requiring computer use.
